With the World Cup well underway this summer, Toti discusses discusses the greatest football show on earth before taking readers on his favourite travels around the globe.
First memories
I definitely remember watching the national team when I was younger. I used to watch a lot of football with my father, and at home, we would always be watching football all of the time. I don’t remember what the first game I watched was, but I think the only player who is still playing that I watched at the time is Ronaldo. But I loved watching the likes of Ricardo Quaresma, Luis Nani, Pepe and Joao Moutinho too.
Favourite goal
My favourite Portugal goal wasn’t scored at the World Cup, but at the Euros. It’s got to be the goal from Eder against France that gave Portugal the Euros and a first major trophy for the country. It was a big achievement, not just for the Portugal team, but for the whole country and every Portuguese person.
Watching World Cups
The first proper World Cup that I watched was probably the World Cup in South Africa, 2010. I was 11 at the time, but I still remember it. I remember Spain was the team that won, and it was probably the first one that I watched almost every game.
Playing at one
It would mean everything to play for Portugal at a World Cup. It would be a massive honour for myself and my family. It had always been a dream of mine to play for my national team, and I’ve been able to achieve that, but it would be the biggest honour of all to play for Portugal in a World Cup and a proud moment.

Last country visited
During last summer I went to a few places, but the last one I visited was Greece which was really nice. Before I went to Greece, I also went to America.
First holiday abroad
I can’t remember exactly, but I think my first holiday abroad was probably Spain. We used to travel a lot when I was younger, so every year we would go to a different country, such as Spain, Italy or France, but the first I went to when I was about 13 was probably Spain.
Favourite trip
I always try to go to America every year. I always go with my cousins and it’s a place that I really love. I love the people and the culture there, and there’s nothing better than being able to go over there and take my cousins with me and share it with them. I love LA and I go to Miami often too, but LA is definitely my favourite.
Bucket list
My dream trip would be to Japan. I would love to go to Tokyo, but I’d also love to go to South Korea. I’ve never been to Asia before on a vacation, but Tokyo is definitely at the top of my list. I’m sure I’ll go there in time.
