Wolves invite family and friends of loved ones who have passed away in recent years at the club’s Annual Service of Remembrance coinciding with the last home fixture of the season.
Family and friends of loved ones are welcome to attend a service that provides an opportunity for reflection taking place at St Peter’s Collegiate Church in Wolverhampton City Centre.
This years’ service will begin at 12.30pm on Saturday 20th May, ahead of the Premier League fixture against Everton at Molineux (3pm kick-off).
Wolves recognise that many people spend a lifetime supporting or representing the club as fans, players, or employees. The annual commemorative event recognises the contributions made by those who represented the club and invites everyone affiliated to Wolves to remember their loved ones both by name and by lighting a candle.
The service is expected to last 45 minutes, allowing time for those with tickets to the Wolves against Everton fixture to make their way to the stadium for kick-off.
The yearly service provides an opportunity for all faiths and backgrounds to remember and celebrate the lives of members of the Wolves family no longer with us and an opportunity for loved ones to be remembered either individually or as a group.
Wolves’ club chaplain, the rector of Wolverhampton, Rev Preb Wright will lead the commemorations welcoming people from all faith traditions and encourages wearing club colours if they wish.
Preb. Wright said: “It is a privilege to lead the annual service of remembrance where people can remember those members of the Wolves family who are no longer with us, and we are delighted to be able to hold the service in person at St Peter's Collegiate Church as we have done for a number of years.
“Remembering plays an important part in all of our lives, and we look forward to welcoming supporters to give thanks for those whom they love that have passed away and to support those who still carry the weight of grief.
“It is always a poignant service, and the chance for the football club and the community to come together and recognise the lives and the contributions of so many who shared a passion for the football club and the city of Wolverhampton as a whole.”
Attendees are requested to complete the online entry form here with the names of loved ones they wish to remember during the service, and these will be printed and handed out on the day. The entry form will close at midnight on Sunday 14th May.
