Wolves 0 Southampton 2 (Ehibhatiomhan 29, 53)
Wolves under 21s were defeated 2-0 against Southampton in their third Premier League 2 fixture at Aggborough.
Two goals either side of half time from Princewill Ehibhatiomhan saw Richard Walker’s side fall to defeat as Southampton frustrated the Old Gold throughout the 90 minutes.
The opening stages of the game saw the visitors have a good opportunity to break the deadlock, as Ehibhatiomhan raced through on goal before an intervention from Alfie White diverted the ball behind for a corner.
Whilst the Saints did threaten with opportunities, Richard Walker’s side were able to win themselves a free kick in a promising position, which captain Luke Rawlings curled narrowly past the post.
However, an attack down the left-hand side saw the ball delivered into the path of Ehibhatiomhan, who finished low into the back of the net in the 29th minute to open the scoring.
Minutes later, Josh Gracey was called into action after the ball was played into the path of Romeo Akachukwu, who forced the Northern Irish goalkeeper into a good save down to his left.
Just before the break, Southampton came very close to a second as Sufianu Dibaga drove down the left wing before delivering to Ehibhatiomhan, who rattled the crossbar before falling into the grasp of the Wolves goalkeeper.

After a heavy spell of pressure from the visitors in the first half, the Saints were able to double their lead in the 53rd minute after Korban McMullan was able to dispossess the Wolves defence high up the pitch before squaring the ball into Ehibhatiomhan, who finished into the bottom corner.
The Southampton number nine was proving to be a thorn in the Wolves side as he had another good opportunity to secure his hat trick, as his curled effort forced a good save from Gracey.
Whilst opportunities were limited throughout the second half for the Old Gold, Tom Edozie attempted to halve the deficit with a shot from close range, which hit the side netting and went behind for a goal kick.
Despite an improved last 10 minutes of the game, the visitors remained organised as Wolves were frustrated to defeat at Kidderminster.
