Injury update on Merrick Will

Wolves Women midfielder Merrick Will will undergo surgery after suffering an injury to her anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.

Will came off in the first half of the Old Gold’s 3-0 victory at Fylde Women earlier this month, and scans have since confirmed a ruptured ACL and damaged meniscus in her right knee.

The 27-year-old has already started the rehabilitation process under the care and guidance of the club’s medical team.

Head of high performance Phil Hayward said: “Merrick picked up a significant injury to her knee and what we expected has unfortunately been confirmed following scans undertaken by the club.

“Merrick will see a consultant within the next few days to decide on the treatment plan moving forward and, from then, the club will work with Merrick on what her rehab plan looks like over the next 9-12 months.

“The physical aspect is one thing we’ll support Merrick with, but also the wellbeing and psychological support of her recovery is something that’s really important to us.

“Merrick is a full-time employee within the academy’s operations department which will really help in her recovery as she’ll be supported on a daily basis both with the access she requires to the medical team but also with the world-class facilities at the Compton Park Training Ground.”
