Wolfe | 'It's a good challenge for us'

David Moller Wolfe is loving life in the Premier League and is now gearing up for his first away game as a Wolves player at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

The summer signing from AZ Alkmaar had always dreamed of playing in the Premier League, and it became a reality last weekend in City, in a game the wing-back looked lively, despite the victory for the visitors.

This Saturday he and Wolves are looking to put things right at the Vitality Stadium, and given his prior knowledge of this division, Wolfe knows the tough task ahead of his side when they face the Cherries, but it’s one he’s relishing.

On Bournemouth up next

“I know that they are a very physical team, extremely aggressive in pressing, a lot of crosses, and a lot of good players, and they’ve been doing very good, especially last season. It's a good team and a good challenge for us.

“That's one thing I've heard a lot in England, that the fans are so close to the pitch. Personally, I love that. So, I'm looking forward to it.”

On a tough opening day

“For me, it wasn't a 4-0 game, but for sure they were the better team, and they deserved the win. But it was small details in the game that could have also put the score in our favour. We did a lot of positive things in the game, and we shouldn't have lost four zero, but that tells you everything about them. They punished us in everything, every mistake we made either with the ball, with our pressing, and we weren't able to punish them when they made mistakes.

“Of course, they’re two guys that I know well from the national team [Haaland and Bobb], especially Oscar, since I've been playing with him in the youth team, so to come against him in some one against once was good. We will, for sure, talk about the game when we meet next month with the national team.”

On making his Premier League debut

“Of course, the level is higher, the pace of the game is higher than what I'm used to, and I haven't been playing much in pre-season, with this team or my former team. I knew the day I signed here that I’d need some time to adjust and get to know the group, get to know the players and everything. It's such a such a lovely group. Everyone that works for the club, the staff, the players, it's a very easy group to be myself in.

“I try to keep myself away from social media as much as possible, either way if it's positive things or negative. Of what I've seen and some messages that I got when I signed, it was only positive and welcoming [from the fans], so, I'm happy about that.”

On the energy he brings

“I can run a lot, I’m quite good on the ball. I can deliver dangerous crosses. I want to be a wing-back that helps the team, both on the offensive side and defensive side. I see it as a good sign that Wolverhampton bought me to replace such a such a good player [Rayan Ait-Nouri] and that gives me confidence that they believe in me a lot.”

On making the Wolves move

“I heard about their interest three weeks before I signed. And then, for me, Wolverhampton was always the first choice. It's the Premier League, everyone in Norway wants to play in the Premier League. When Wolverhampton came, I wanted to come here. The Premier League is such a huge league in Norway, everyone who grows up watching football will always watch the Premier League in Norway.

“It’s a step up. The English culture, it's known worldwide that they really love the Premier League and its teams. I think the atmosphere against Man City was amazing, and that was only the first game, so I can't wait for many more.”
