Toti | 'We need to keep fighting until the end'

Toti felt Wolves gave themselves too big of a mountain to climb in their Emirates FA Cup clash with Liverpool after conceding twice early in the second half at Molineux.

After claiming victory in the Premier League against the Reds on Tuesday night, the two teams went head-to-head four days later in the cup but this time it was the visitors who came out on top.

But despite their cup campaign coming to an end in the fifth round, Toti is determined to continue their Premier League battle as the season enters the final stages.

On falling out of the FA Cup

“We’re a bit disappointed. We knew that they were going to come with everything and face us in a different way, especially after the defeat for them on Tuesday.

“We knew they were going to change some players and come stronger. We were aware of that and we tried to follow our game plan.”

On keeping solid in the first half

“I think we did a pretty much solid first half, even though they had a lot of chances, but I think facing the second half, we didn’t come as strong as we should.

“Them scoring the two goals in a short period of time kind of killed us a little bit.”

On conceding twice in quick succession

“It’s tough. It’s not easy and it’s not what we wanted to do. But like I said, Liverpool are a strong team, and coming and scoring two goals straight after half-time, we knew it was going to be tough to come back after and get the result.

“If it was only one goal, you still have time to go and chase the team and try and get the goal.”

On continuing to fight in the Premier League

“We still have eight games from the league and we need to keep fighting until the end and we’ve been showing that.

“We’ve been showing that we are still fighting after wins against Villa and Liverpool, winning two in a row. So that’s the game, to keep fighting and believing until the end.”
