Wolfe | 'There's so much to learn from this game'

David Moller Wolfe believes 4-0 wasn’t a true reflection of the opening day against Manchester City on Saturday, but admits he learned a lot from his Premier League debut.

The Norwegian started at left-wing-back and saw the Old Gold begin well against City, but while the home side’s opportunities went begging, the visitors showed their clinical streak.

Wolfe had previously only played 45 times for Wolves, in the Celta Vigo friendly, so knows his bedding in process will take time, but he has a good feeling in the group, having arrived from AZ Alkmaar less than three weeks ago.

On his Premier League debut

“I’ve learned a lot. I think I need some time to look back at the game but I'm sure there's so much to learn from this game, individually and also as a team. We did a lot of good things, but then we did some bad things, and we were punished by a very, very good team. So, that's the difference.”

On mistakes being punished

“Mistakes happen in football. Of course, we wanted to get a good result on Saturday, in the first game in front of our home fans. We had some good periods, especially right before their first goal, where we had a disallowed goal. I don't know how close it was. For me, it's not a 4-0 game, but that’s how it is.”

On needing to be clinical

“I think we could have created a lot more chances. We create some chances, but we could also have created a lot more if we just got our timings a little bit right.”

On the team needing time

“We're going to make sure and try to make it that we need as little time as possible to be ready and to win games.

“For me personally, 45 minutes with the team before this game. So I probably need a couple more games, but I have a really good feeling about our team, and I also think that the fans can look behind the result and see that we played some good football.”
