Internationals | Lembikisa and Chiwome on target

Dexter Lembikisa scored his first international goal for Jamaica and Leon Chiwome netted the winner as England under-18s lifted the U18 Pinatar Super Cup in a successful international break for Wolves’ youngsters.

After suffering an extra-time defeat in the semi-finals to USA, Lembikisa’s sensational strike secured the bronze medal for Jamaica in the Concacaf Nations League.

The defender, currently on loan at Hearts, rifled home with his left foot as the Reggae Boyz were 1-0 winners over Panama in the third place play-off.

Striker Chiwome was in action for England under-18s as the Young Lions continued their unbeaten March camp with a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the final of the U18 Pinatar Super Cup.

Chiwome’s goal on the 70-minute mark proved to be the difference as the Young Lions held out for victory in the tournament following a 2-1 win against Czechia and a goalless draw with Germany.

After securing a season-long loan with Cerezo Osaka in Japan, Justin Hubner headed straight to international duty with Indonesia for their World Cup qualifier double-header with Vietnam.

And the fixtures proved highly successful as Indonesia won both games (1-0 and 3-0) to move up to second in their qualifying group alongside Iraq, Vietnam and the Philippines, leaving them in a strong position to progress to round three of qualifying ahead of the June fixtures.

Makenzie Bradbury and Wales under-17s have successfully secured their place at this summer’s UEFA U17 EURO finals, a second successive appearance following their maiden finals in Hungary last summer.

Bradbury played all but nine minutes in the three qualification fixtures which saw Wales beat Romania 2-1, lose 2-1 to Sweden, before Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Bulgaria sealed a place in the summer’s finals in Cyprus.

Also turning out for Wales at youth level was Lewys Benjamin who was involved in an under-19s international friendly double-header with Belgium.

The goalkeeper played the first game, a 1-0 defeat, before Wales won the second game by a goal to nil.

Elsewhere, David Osifo played 73 minutes across two friendly fixtures as Austria under-16s secured back-to-back 2-0 victories against North Macedonia.
