Biography
Willy Boly has enjoyed five seasons of solid defending and consistent performances at Molineux and provides a threat in both boxes.
A towering presence at the back, Boly initially helped Wolves into the Premier League in 2018 as a loanee, before making his move permanent in the top-flight, where he has continued to flourish.
As a youngster, the defender spent three years at the Clairefontaine Academy in France, before joining Auxerre and emerging through their reserve team. Then came a spell at Braga, before Boly signed a five-year deal at Porto.
A formidable season in the Championship led to a permanent Molineux move in June 2018, and a goal against Manchester City three games into his Premier League career showed he was at home.
Amongst the defender’s memorable contributions are a last-minute equaliser against Newcastle United in February 2019 and a dramatic late winner at Besiktas later that year, which secured Wolves their first win back in European football after a near 40-year absence.
Injuries have played a part in the defender’s past two season, but the end of the 2021/22 season brought about nine consecutive starts for the defender, who will hope for more minutes during the 2022/23 campaign.
