George | 'Playing against West Brom’s always a good occasion'

Tammi George is looking forward to facing West Bromwich Albion in another Black Country derby on Sunday afternoon.

Wolves Women host their rivals in the semi-final of the Birmingham Challenge Cup at the New Bucks Head, and George is calling on supporters to once again turn out in their numbers. The midfielder, who scored in the 3-1 league victory at the Baggies in October, has reflected on last weekend’s FA Cup tie with Brighton, hosting West Brom and being the current holders of the Challenge Cup.

On playing against Brighton

“It was a really good game and a great test. Playing against a Super League side was a proud moment for us all.

“It was a great test individually and for the team, and I think we should just be really proud of ourselves for where we got to.

“We held them out until the 88th minute, so it was really good.”

On the support last week

“It’s really great to get as many people as we can in there. We could hear them throughout the whole 90 minutes plus of time. It’s always great support.”

On going head-to-head with WSL opposition

“It was tough. Playing against those players, you’ve always got to be switched on and you can’t switch off at all.

“It was a really good test but, like I said, we should be really proud of what we did.”

On playing West Brom on Sunday

“I’m really looking forward to it. Playing against West Brom’s always a good occasion, especially with it being a derby. We’ll work hard and it should be a good game.

“It’s always a great feeling (scoring), especially against West Brom, and hopefully I can do it again.”

On being the Challenge Cup holders

“We’ve won it for the last two years and lifting the trophy at Molineux last year was a great memory. It’s always good to win a final, so hopefully we can do it again.”

On getting another bumper crowd on Sunday

“It’s always great to get as many people as we can in the stadium so hopefully they’ll come along on Sunday.

“It always gives us that 10% boost and with it being a derby we can make it a really good atmosphere.”
