Morphet says the support from Wolves fans can make all the difference at the New Bucks Head when Dan McNamara’s side go head-to-head with Super League opposition. The Old Gold are just one win away from a quarter-final appearance in the prestigious competition and skipper Morphet believes there isn’t any pressure on the team given the two-league gap.

On the tie

“There’s nothing to fear and no pressure on us. We’re really looking forward to it as a group and it’s the first time in 20 years we’ve got to this round which is an unbelievable achievement.

“We’ll go there, enjoy it without any pressure and really wanting to compete with them.”

On the last round

“I take Reading as one of the big moments of our season so far and it’s a memory for us at the end of the day.

“We didn’t just go and nick a win. I thought we went there, played some really good football and competed with a top team.

“We can try and take that confidence into the next game against Brighton.”

On support at the New Bucks Head

“That would be absolutely amazing and to get as many fans there would be brilliant.

“It’s a big game for us so the support means so much to us. It always lifts your game an extra 20-40% when you’ve got people behind you, the fans are singing and flags are waving.

“Hopefully we can make it a really tough place for Brighton to come to and get behind the girls.”

On focusing on themselves

“We don’t really pay too much attention in terms of what’s going on there – we’ve got to focus on ourselves.

“It’s a two-league gap so we’ve got to focus on the football side of things and making sure we prepare well and go into it with a good game plan that everyone is clear on. We focus on ourselves and what we can do.”

On a big game against tough opposition

“These are the games we want to be involved in. These are the teams we want to play.

“We want to play against the best teams we can and it gives you an idea of where we’re at.

“We’re really looking forward to it and testing ourselves against a top team.”
