George visits former school ahead of cup final

Wolves midfielder Tammi George has been inspiring the next generation of young female footballers after paying a visit to her old school in Wall Heath ahead of their cup final clash.

Following another stunning season in Old Gold which saw George pick up the 2022/23 supporter’s Player of the Season award, she surprised the pupils at Maidensbridge Primary School as the girls’ football team prepared for the Brierley Hill and Dudley Schools Cup Final.

George was invited back to her former school to speak to the players, who had already won their league, and pass on her knowledge before they got their cup final underway.

The midfielder also gave out signed copies of the official Wolves men’s and women’s programmes as she had a long and inspirational chat with the girls in their classroom ahead of kick-off.

George said: “I was overwhelmed by the welcome. It was great to be back at my primary school and amazing to see the girls’ football team had reached the area final, which is a huge achievement.

“When I was at school there wasn’t a girls’ team, but I did play on the playground with the boys at lunch.

“Lots of the girls also play at clubs outside of school, like Kewford Eagles, where I used to play too.

“It was great to hear some of the girls had come along to Wolves Women matches and hopefully we’ll see some of them come along again next season.”
