Birmingham vs Wolves | U23 Match preview

Wolves under-23s will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to this season’s Premier League Cup campaign when they take on Birmingham City on Thursday afternoon.

James Collins’ side are currently without loss at the midway point of the competition’s group stages, sitting top of the Group H table, having beaten both Derby County and the Blues, as well as fighting back to earn a 2-2 draw with Leeds United last month.

The under-23s are yet to lose a match in their two cup competitions this season, having finished their Premier League International Cup campaign with three draws from three and narrowly missing out on a spot in the knockout stages, but will take a big step closer to the next phase of the Premier League Cup with three points against Birmingham.

Wolves’ opponents are currently third in Group H having played one more match than Wolves, having beaten and drawn against Leeds United, but defeats to Wolves and Derby see the Blues currently short of the top two spots in the table, which will earn the respectively teams a place in the next round once everyone plays each other twice.
