Ashley-Seal and Watt on Molineux clash with United

Benny Ashley-Seal and Elliot Watt are confident Wolves under-23s can inflict Manchester United’s first Premier League 2 defeat of the season on Friday night.

The top two clubs in Division 2 will go head-to-head under the lights at Molineux in the first of the PL2 matches to be held the stadium this season.

And with spirits high in the run-up to the game, the assured young Wolves stars believe Rob Edwards’ side can pick up three points and return to the league summit.

On the season so far

EW: The table speaks for itself; we’re having a great season. We’ve only lost two games all season and the two we’ve lost I don’t think we deserved to. Against Fulham we just didn’t take the chances we had and at Southampton we dominated the game but conceded three goals through sloppy defending.

BAS: I put the start that we’ve made down to hard work. This year our team have gelled really well and we’re probably unlucky to be second. We lost the last game against Southampton due to a set piece, but we’ve done well and hopefully we can take our good form into United and get the three points.

On personal goals

BAS: I’m not doing too bad goal scoring wise to be fair. I’ve scored a few, and I’m just trying to keep it going and help the team as much as I can. In terms of goals for myself I’m trying to be up there and keep us at the top. My aim this season has always been to do as much as I can for myself and for the team. I set a target at 20 goals, but I will just take every game as it comes and try to keep scoring.

On playing at Molineux

EW: We’ve got some young players in the team and there’ll be quite a lot of supporters there, so hopefully it won’t be a case of the players playing the occasion but playing the game and remaining focused. I’ll be telling the lads to make sure they don’t try and do anything that they wouldn’t in a normal game, maintain our shape and do what we’re good at. We’re treating it like a normal game, because it’s just another league game that we need to go out and win.

On Manchester United

EW: It’s been a really good season so far and it's a massive game against United on Friday which we can’t wait for. It’s not going to be an easy game, but if we play to our potential then we can beat anyone on our day.

BAS: I think on the counter we’re going to be too quick for them, and I think our whole team is just going to have too much for them. But we’ve got to go out there and put in a performance we can all be proud of.

Over 1,000 tickets have been sold for the top of the table clash, and supporters are being urged not to miss their chance to show support for Rob Edwards’ future stars, as they aim to continue their positive start to the Premier League 2 season.

Season ticket holders can get free entry into the stadium for the 7pm kick-off on Friday 26th October but must claim their ticket in advance, while parking is available on the night for just £1 per car.
