U21 preview | Wolves vs Blackburn

Wolves under-21s return to PL2 action for the first time since early November when Blackburn Rovers visit Compton Park on Sunday afternoon.

West Ham United were 3-1 winners the last time the 21s played a league game, with Premier League Cup and International Cup fixtures taking centre stage for the past two months.

James Collins’ side have accumulated 14 points from their opening 12 matches since returning to the top tier of PL2 following promotion last season.

Four victories and two draws have made for a steady first half of the campaign, with the old gold now ready to take on the remaining games in 2023.

Wolves have enjoyed success in recent weeks, despite being faced with a number of cup fixtures – four wins from five in the PL Cup has safely ensured progression into the knockout stages of that competition.

Meanwhile, Blackburn sit three places and four points behind Wolves in 12th place and have enjoyed similar success in the PL Cup over the festive period.

Mike Sheron’s side have also qualified from their group, while two of their three PL2 victories this season have come away from home at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
