Wolves will be hoping for better luck on their travels following Monday’s abandonment at Sunderland, where extreme fog brought the game to a premature close after just 25 minutes.
The old gold have gained maximum points in Group H so far following victories over Reading and Sunderland.
With a number of regular starters moving up to train with the first team squad this week, opportunities have been presented for others to come into the side and shine.
That was put into practice on Wednesday evening as James Collins’ side progressed in the Birmingham Senior Cup, beating Rugby Town with a convincing 3-0 win.
Lee Harkin, Dylan Scicluna and Aaron Keto-Diyawa were all on the scoresheet, while four youngsters were also handed their under-21 debut.
Cardiff are currently top of the PL Cup group, having notched two victories from three matches so far. The Bluebirds are also flying high in the southern section of the Professional Development League, sitting third with 24 points from 13 games.
The competition takes centre stage for Collins’ men in the build-up to Christmas, with Premier League International Cup fixtures against Valencia and Wolfsburg also on the agenda.
