Sasa Kalajdzic has left Wolves on a permanent basis, returning to LASK where he spent last season on loan.
The attacker first moved to Wolves in 2022 from Stuttgart but suffered a serious knee injury on his debut which sadly set the tone for the Austrian’s injury-hit time at Molineux.
He returned to the fore 12 months after that Southampton debut and scored two late winners in the Premier League, earning Wolves victories at Everton and Bournemouth under Gary O’Neil, before joining Frankfurt on loan.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old suffered another ACL injury in Germany, meaning he missed the whole of the 2024/25 season. His return the following year saw Kalajdzic play twice under Vitor Pereira, taking his Wolves total to 16 appearances, before he moved to Austria on loan.
There, he won an historic league and cup double with LASK and was back at Compton Park this summer, but with just 12 months remaining on his Molineux deal, he’s returned to LASK permanently, ending his four-year stay in Wolverhampton.
Technical director Matt Jackson: “This is the end of a project that started last season with that loan move to LASK – we were setting him up to go and expose himself in the marketplace football wise. He has one year left on his contract and unfortunately has injury history, but he's also got a real desire to play and can make an unbelievable contribution.
“He had explained that he felt that Championship football might not be perfect for him, which is understandable. He's now going to LASK, but we retain a big part of whatever happens for his future as part of the deal. It’s been fairytale stuff since Sasa joined, winning the league and the cup, and now qualifying for the Champions League. It's a brilliant story and he can be a huge part of that.
“He’s always been a great professional, even this summer he conducted himself brilliantly after the World Cup. You can have frustrations waiting, but he's never vented that. He deserves the move and we’ll be wishing him all the best his career going forwards.
“He leaves with the best wishes of everybody. We're really pleased that we can find this conclusion now and it certainly helps us with our squad management here.”
