Peixoto | 'He has the mentality I want in the team'

Cesar Peixoto insists new signing Rafiki Said has the mentality and character that he’s looking for in his Wolves side moving forward.

The Comoros international has become Peixoto’s first signing as Wolves head coach, and from his early conversations, he believes Said has the hunger to help his team push forward but also improve himself.

As the Portuguese hopes to build a “family” as well as a team capable of competing at the right end of the Championship table, Peixoto believes his new winger will bring important, fresh characterises to the group.

On welcoming Said in

“I’m happy because he’s a good player and he can help us to improve the team. He’s a player with important characteristics for us – we have Mane and Rodrigo, but we have to find solutions, to challenge each other, to improve the team.

“He’s a fast player and one versus one running is a very important characteristic for us, but the most important thing for me is the team, and he’s one player more to help us build a big family and team to fight to put Wolves again in the Premier League.”

On his conversations with Said

“He wanted to come as soon as possible. He’s a very humble player, very hardworking, and with a hunger to be a success at Wolves, to be a success in football. He has the mentality I want in the team, and it’s important that he came to us.”

On suiting the Championship

“In terms of physicality, he’s a strong guy, he’s quick and athletic. He has the capacity, the quality and mentality to adapt and help the team to improve, to win games and do things in the right way.”

On arriving before Portugal

“It was important. The sooner the players come, the better. It’s more time we have to work with them and put our idea of the game, to know the team, to know the environment around the club. It’s very important for us, not only Rafiki, but all the players coming as soon as possible is important.”
