Rob Edwards described Andre as a “dream to work with” after the midfielder committed his future to Wolves by signing a new deal.
The Brazilian will be part of next season’s Championship squad, which provided a huge boost to Edwards, as he prepares for a big summer rebuild at Compton Park, assured of his influential midfielder being a part of it.
The head coach identified players he wants to keep for next season, and Andre was one of them. In his short time at the club, Edwards has seen the 24-year-old grow into a leader, and believes retaining that calibre of player is a strong start to a busy summer.
On Andre remaining at Molineux
“He's a really important player for us. He's stressed all along that he has a desire to stay and help us, and I think he's been showing that in his performances anyway. I’ve got a really good relationship with Andre, and I think he really enjoys it here. It's obviously been a difficult season, but he wants to help the football club, so it’s hugely positive news.
“We've had lots of conversations, and he wants to be sure that we're going to be building a strong team and that's what we want to do, and I think this shows our intent, this is the start of what I hope is a really positive summer for us.”

On a sign of intent
“If your best players, the people that you want to keep around, are willing to stay and to fight, then it shows we're serious. It shows the players that we want to keep here that that we're serious, and, of course, for people looking in from the outside, and people that we will be keen on, it shows them that we're serious as well, because we're retaining good players.
“Continuity is important, but we want people to want to be here as well. I'm not going to be begging, what Andre is showing is a real commitment, and there's a number of players, of course, that we would love to follow suit, and hopefully they do, but of course change is required and needed as well, so that's equally as important.”
On working with Andre
“He's a great guy, he's smiley, he's happy, likes having a joke, but he's incredibly professional and works really hard. He's a dream to work with. He’s someone that you enjoy working with, and when you wake up in the morning and know you're working with people and players like that, it does help, so I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about him.
“He’s grown into a leader and will continue to do that, the more confident he gets with his English, and the more he's around the football club. This is a big step for him because he’ll be experienced in England by then and will know how important a player he is for us.
“He will be certainly one of our leaders in that dressing room, and that's been growing. I think people have seen that in his performance levels, and what people won't see around the place on a daily basis is what he demands, he drives training sessions, and he's certainly got some real leadership qualities that we're going to continue to try and bring out of him.”

On him being ready for the Championship
“Like everyone, the mindset has got to be right, because the Championship is different. He's an excellent football player, technically he's really, really good. We're going to push him even harder in pre-season and get him running even more.
“He's got really high potential, we’ve seen it in the Premier League, and there's more to come from him. It's exciting that we can have him in the Championship. We can't, of course, disrespect the level, because we know how difficult it is as well, but he's certainly going to look a good player.”
On maintaining some continuity
“We're working really hard now. My focus has obviously been on the games, but it's shifted a lot in recent week to making sure we get this right and get the summer right as well. It's very, very important now.
“It's great that we're getting things done early, and that's what all of our energy and focus is going into, certainly after Sunday. There's a lot of work going into this now – we all know that we have to get this right.”
