Andre commits long-term future to Wolves

Andre has committed his future to Wolves by signing a new four-year contact with the club.

The popular midfielder, who has played 74 times for Wolves over the past two campaigns, will be part of next season’s rebuild in the Championship, having signed a new deal until 2030, with the option of a further year.

The 24-year-old moved to Wolverhampton in August 2024 from Fluminense, where he’d spent his whole career until that point, and enjoyed a strong first season in English football.

Twice voted Player of the Month by supporters in his debut campaign, Andre brought both solidity and quality on the ball to the midfield and was instrumental to the club’s Premier League survival.

While this term has been tougher for the club, with relegation confirmed last month, Andre has remained consistent and his first goal in old gold was a dramatic injury time winner against Liverpool at Molineux in March.

The Brazilian, who has been capped eight times while in the West Midlands, has committed his future early and will be part of the club’s Championship squad looking to bounce back at the first time of asking next season.

Nathan Shi, executive chairman, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Andre has committed his future to Wolves. Over the past few months, we have been in constant dialogue with him and his representatives, and throughout every conversation his desire to stay here has never wavered.

“He believes in this football club, he believes in what we are building together and he has full belief that we can realise our aim of achieving promotion back into the Premier League as soon as possible.

“Andre has always made it clear he wants to be a part of the club’s future and that says everything about his character, and his connection to Wolves and our supporters.

“Having a player with Andre’s quality committing to Wolves for the next four years is a huge statement of intent for the future, it shows our long-term ambition, and sends a strong message to other players that we are building a team hungry to get the club back to where it belongs.”

Head coach Rob Edwards said: “Andre’s a great guy and is incredibly professional – he's a dream to work with. He’s grown into a leader and will continue to do that, the more he's around the football club. This is a big step for him, because he’ll be experienced in England and will know how important a player he is for us.

“He's an excellent footballer, technically he's really, really good. He's got really high potential, we’ve seen it in the Premier League, and it's exciting that we can have him in the Championship. We can't disrespect the level, because we know how difficult it is as well, but he's certainly going to look a good player.

“If your best players, the people that you want to keep around, are willing to stay and to fight, then it shows we're serious. Continuity is important, but we want people who want to be here as well, and Andre is showing is a real commitment.”

Technical director Matt Jackson added: “We’re delighted to have Andre as an integral part of our quest to get back into the Premier League as quickly as possible. It’s brilliant that he's bought into the project, it's a brilliant commitment from him, and it shows the intentions around the quality of player that we want to have at the football club.

“He went on record early saying that he had that commitment to stay, and he's a man of his word. It's good timing for him, because he can go into a summer relaxed about his future, and from the club's perspective, to have a player of top quality committing to us in this way is fantastic for everybody.

“From day one of pre-season, we want to have the intention going through the club that we are really serious about this. We want to be the very best that we can be.”
