Pedro Lima highlights the importance of maintaining focus and belief in an international break that is longer than usual.
Tolu Arokodare’s equaliser against Brentford just over a fortnight ago now seems a distant memory, with the unusually long March international break stretching Wolves’ wait to 25 days until they return at the London Stadium on 8th April.
Lima is among half the squad who have remained at Compton Park throughout the break, and the 19-year-old has been reflecting on how he and his teammates have kept busy during time away from fixtures.
On a longer break than usual
“We need to enjoy the time we have off and enjoy the training because we don't have a game. We must keep the focus when we have the days off, rest is important and enjoy the time with our families.
“We don’t have the whole team together at the minute, with half of the squad away with their national team, so the training ground is calm, not too many people are around. We need to keep everybody who is still here together, making sure we’re ready for the next game.”

On returning to Molineux in January
“I came back in January which was good timing. I arrived back and had a very good meeting with Rob [Edwards], and I like the training we have now.
“I like the staff, the team, everybody likes each other. We have good jokes, we all enjoy training. Training is really good, I improve every session which is important.”
On the recent positive results
“Yes, it was a really good time, some really good wins. We know all games in the Premier League are very important, but those games against Liverpool and Aston Villa were really important, and good timing for our position in the table at the end of the season.
“Now we have more games that we need to play like we did in those games.”

On heading towards the final few weeks
“We have to go into the final seven games and play like we did in those two games. We have to keep the focus in training, and keep the belief. We know all the games are like finals, each game is the game of our lives.”
On Easter and the importance of the day
“I will enjoy the day with my wife. We like this day because we are Christians, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“It’s a celebration of faith, and life. We see this and we say thank you, thank you lord. Easter is a great day, and I will be celebrating it with my wife.
“I think we will stay at home for most of it, maybe go out for a nice lunch. We will also speak to our family in Brazil, we can enjoy the day with everybody together, online.”
