Ladislav Krejci insists the Wolves players are all focused on achieving the greatest of Premier League escapes as they head to Brentford on Monday night looking to make it three top flight wins from three.
Despite still sitting bottom of the standings, the Old Gold have found form heading into the final few months of the season, thanks to wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool in their most recent fixtures, which has closed the gap to the teams above them in the table.
And ahead of Monday’s trip to Brentford, Krejci is determined to finish the campaign in the best way possible, and fight until the end to repay the Wolves fans for the support they have given the team during a difficult season.
On wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool
“Those games have given up a lot of belief, a lot of confidence and a lot of energy. Lots of positive things and this is what we are working for. This was something the coaching stuff were trying to set on us, and we finally got some results from it, so we’re very happy.
“It [the atmosphere at Molineux] was great. It was amazing. And we are also very happy and delighted with how they supported us during the whole season, even when it was a bad time.
“Now when they are still there, we finally get the wins and the points and the atmosphere is amazing. This is also something that we can be motivated for.”
On finding form in March
“Of course, everybody would have wanted it [the team to record wins earlier in the season] like this, but the reality is that we are in this situation, and we have to solve this situation. All we are thinking about is how we can be, giving all our time and energy into this, take it how it is and work with it.
“It’s hard to say, but I think it’s about the time it’s taken for somebody new coming in and bringing some new ideas. When this happens, it will take time. Also during the games, sometimes we maybe haven’t had the luck, and there have been some last moments when we can put the points on our side.
“Because I think the performances have many times been on a good level, but we couldn’t make those last steps. But in the last two games, we did it and we got the points from it. It’s lots of things that we could discuss about it, but football is like this.”
On improving under Edwards
“He’s brought us a lot of energy. A lot of his thoughts. We know about his history and he’s been a part of this club for a long time, and you feel from him what it really means for him and for the staff.
“When it’s somebody like that who knows what the club means, you take the energy from him and you can settle up on other things too. He’s also brought tactical things, and match by match we are trying to involving the system and the structure to be more consistent and more together, we know more about each other, about the positioning, and it’s naturally growing like this.
“The defensive part of the shape is to be the best version of ourselves and to make it harder for the opposing team. We want to feel that they cannot go through us. Maybe they will have to take more risks during the game and it will open up the game for us and this is the style we are playing now, and like we saw like we can get the points from it.”

On fighting until the end
“It’s hard for me to speak about what happened before I was here, but I can speak about now, and of course, I see the progress from the start of the season. I see improvements in the structure and about mentality, so we are growing up as a team and match by match, everybody feels more comfortable and more consistent with everything.
“The target is clear for us. We are out of the cup now, so we have only the Premier League and every game, every week and every match will be very important for us. Let’s see how far we can go.
“We know mathematically there is still the chance, so for us, it’s our job to work the hardest we can. Week by week, we can feel that we can get there and know how we can get there.
“The next game is at Brentford, and we have to win it. We know that. But we will go there with this goal, and after we can set another goal.”
On remaining focused
“Our goals are clear. We still have a chance, even if it’s one per cent, it’s still a possibility, so this is our goal. This is how we will take it till the end of the season, and if we have the chance to fight for it, I will be the first in line to do it.
“We will be crazy, and also disrespectful to the club and to the fans, if we speak about what could be next season, because the season is not finished and we are still involved. This is not just how I am thinking, but it’s how all the people around here are thinking.”
