Armstrong | 'We have to pick each other up'

Adam Armstrong says the Wolves players will “pick each other up” after a positive display which went unrewarded at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The attacker was lively during his 63 minutes on the pitch, connecting play during a first half where Wolves were the better side, but failed to take advantage, with a missed penalty the key talking point.

A rec card after the break turned the momentum the way of the hosts and Wolves couldn’t wrestle it back, eventually conceding late and losing the match, which left Armstrong wondering what might have been post-match.

On Sunday’s narrow lost

“It was 100 per cent a missed opportunity. I think, first half we were very good. We cut through them quite a lot and had a few chances. Emotions were high after the game, but the second half, going down to 10 men is always tough in this league. The goal that arrived was probably our fault, we could have done better, so it’s a tough one to take.

“I think first half we were outstanding, and there were chances there to kill them, and we didn't quite do that. It was moments in games, and we have to look at that and be a lot better.”

On not taking opportunities

“I think it's just moments and games. There were big moments, chances to score with a penalty, and then when we go down to 10 men it doesn't help. You've seen in this league, no matter what team you play against, if you go down with 10 men it's always going to be tough. Maybe we could have seen it out a little bit better, but it was always going to be tough.”

On the red card

“I didn't really see it personally. I'll have to look back at it, but I'm guessing it was emotion from giving away a throw and then kicking the ball away. We'll get together as a group, and we have to move on from it. We have to learn from learn from our mistakes, pick each other up and go again.”
