Hugo Bueno was delighted to finally find the back of the net for Wolves in the Premier League as the Spaniard’s stunning strike helped the Old Gold to a well-deserved point in their fightback against Arsenal.
Having been at Molineux since the age of 16, Bueno has waited a while to find the net in the top flight, but on appearance number 67, the left wing-back found space on the edge of the box, cut inside onto his favoured left foot and curled an incredible effort inside the top corner to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
With fellow Wolves Academy graduate Tom Edozie notching the equaliser in added time, Bueno was pleased to have contributed to a memorable night in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
On claiming a dramatic point against Arsenal
“It’s an incredible feeling. I was able to get my first Premier League goal, at home, and it’s something I wanted to do for a long time, so I’m super happy.
“It wasn’t an easy match at all, losing 2-0, but we knew we had to keep pushing, keep working, keep believing and in the end, we got the result.
“There’s a lot of work behind the scenes, and it’s not been an easy season, so to get a little reward today was amazing.”
On coming back from two goals down
“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, especially when you go 2-0 down at home, but we always believed.
“We believed that if we kept going, we could do what we did today. I’m so happy for everyone. I think we deserved it, and hopefully we can keep this momentum.”
On scoring his first Premier League goal
“It was amazing. It took me a bit longer than Tom [Edozie], but it’s always nice.
“As soon as Santi gave it to me wide, I didn’t think twice, I just tried to shoot on goal, and it went in. It was amazing for me, but it was also a good night for everyone.”

On fighting until the end
“It hasn’t been an easy season at all. It isn’t going well, we know that, but we’re trying to fight for every point left in the championship. We’re not going to stop and we have to keep believing until the end.
“We’re going to give absolutely everything. We’re going to do it for the club, for the fans, for our families, for ourselves, for everyone.
“That’s also what the manager tells us, that we have to block out all the outside noise, focus on each match and give our maximum.”
On giving back to the supporters
“One thing that we always say is that we have to do this for the club and for the fans. They are always there supporting us.
“It’s not been an easy season, so it’s always good to give them something, to show them that we are here, we are still working and we’re still giving everything every day. So I’m really happy for them.”
