Mateus Mane’s breakthrough Premier League season continues to go from strength to strength after the youngster was voted Wolves’ SUDU Player of the Month for January – picking up the award for the second month in succession.
Since bursting onto the scene in December to win his first SUDU award, the Wolves Academy graduate has continued to play a vital role in the club’s Premier League fixtures in the new year.
During January, the 18-year-old scored the first goal of his senior career in Wolves’ Premier League win over West Ham United, in a game which also saw the forward play a crucial role in creating the other goals in the 3-0 victory at Molineux.
With his strike against West Ham, Mane became Wolves’ youngest ever scorer in the Premier League, at just 18 years, three months and 18 days old.
Not to be overawed by the top flight of English football, Mane then followed up his debut goal by netting the Old Gold’s equaliser against Everton to earn his side a point in the team’s first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Mane has since featured in every Wolves first-team game throughout January and produced impressive performances in the Premier League matches against Newcastle United, Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth, despite Rob Edwards’ side taking just the one point from those outings.
His displays have also not gone unnoticed by the Wolves fans, with Mane being overwhelmingly voted as the SUDU Player of the Month for the second time, and the forward picked up his award at Compton Park ahead of Wednesday’s visit to Nottingham Forest.
