Arokodare | 'I should have been more clinical'

Tolu Arokodare believes Wolves’ handful of missed chances were the difference between defeat and victory in their home Premier League loss to Bournemouth on Saturday.

While the Cherries scored twice from their rare opportunities in front of goal, the hosts spurned a variety of glorious chances, and Arokodare himself could have had a hat-trick on another day as he was constantly denied by Djordje Petrovic in the Bournemouth net.

Although the Nigerian was disappointed with the lack of clinical finishing, he insists the Old Gold are still fighting to try and take pride from what has been a difficult season.

On missed chances proving costly

“You could say that [Bournemouth were more clinical], but I also don't want to give them much credit, because I think we played better, but obviously they won.

“I’m not going to speak about the team, I’m going to speak about myself. I think I should have done a lot better with my finishing.

“I should have been more clinical, and I think that’s probably cost us the game.”

On lacking the cutting edge

“Not just the second half, but we started the game pretty well. The first 15 minutes were good, and then we kind of lost our momentum and they scored.

“We tried to start the second half better and end it better, but we weren’t clinical, and that cost us the game.”

On needing to improve

“Things have improved, but results haven’t improved, and that’s the one thing we were trying to work on

“From the start of the season to now, we’ve been playing very good football, defending pretty well, but the results haven’t been coming, and we haven’t been scoring enough.

“But that’s something that we still have to work on, and we’re still going to work and then hopefully it gets better.”

On fighting for three points

“It’s always been the point to win every game. We only have one win, and that’s just not good enough, and we know it.

“We want to win, we go into every game trying to win, but it’s just not going our way.

“But we’re not going to give up. We’re still going to keep trying, and hopefully we get the three points in every game.”
