Rob Edwards has called on his Wolves players to replicate their away performances at home after bringing 2025 to an end with a point on their travels against Manchester United.
Wolves will kick off 2026 by hosting West Ham United at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, and bringing their losing streak to an end at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, Edwards has reminded his players to keep their feet on the ground and replicate their display in front of their home crowd if they want to start turning their season around.
On a point at Old Trafford
“We’ve got to keep our feet on the ground. It feels nice that we’ve taken something from the game, but it is only a point. You don’t go in there celebrating our draws, because look at where we are.
“We’ve got to keep our feet on the ground, continue to work really hard, keep believing in what we’re doing, but the challenge now is we’ve got to win a game at home. But we’ve got to remember where we’re at as well, so it’s progress.
“The performance levels have been improving, and I think we’ve all seen that, and we felt that, but it’s nice to come away with something from the game. It’s great for the supporters as well and no less than what we deserve. I feel that on another night, it could have been more.”

On having the chance to claim a first win
“However you play at Manchester United, they’re always going to create and have some chances, but I feel we had bigger ones. We almost gave them one and I know they had the offside goal, but we had some big, opportunities there, but that’s good, it’s a positive, but we’re creating in the main and we look solid.
“In the first half, I thought we played some really good football and in the second half, I thought we looked at really good counter-attacking threats, so I thought we showed some nice sides to ourselves tonight as well.
“But it’s only one game, one point. It was a good performance and it’s progress. I thought we saw a really good second half the other night against Liverpool and you’ve seen a really good 90 minutes tonight. We’ve got to take that forward now.
“Since we arrived, eight games, it’s been too inconsistent –especially at home. The away games have all been really good, and we’ve got to show this face, this side of us, at home.”
On a battling display on the road
“That’s what it requires to just get a point in the Premier League. Not even three. That’s the effort required, but what was good, we obviously had to jig things around a little bit, and we were still doing that today, because we gave Santi as much time as possible and in the end, we’re playing a number eight as a number six, and a couple of attacking players as eights.
“But I thought they showed brilliant discipline, great legs, and really good quality as well. But there’s a lot of energy and if you’re going to get anything from here, it’s a big pitch, so you’ve got to run, and football is about that, and we showed some good legs.
“I’ve put it on the lads a little bit as well, that all of us have got to perform on the weekend. We’ve shown again, two really good teams away from home [Liverpool and Man United], what we can do, what we are capable of, and we should have taken more than a point from those two games, and now we got to produce at home.”

On facing West Ham this weekend
“We’ve seen four really good performances away from home, all against four top teams, and the challenge is that we’ve got to perform like that at home.
“We know there’s more expectation, the atmosphere is difficult at times, but we’ve got to blank that out, and we’ve got to perform as we have away from home at home. We’ve got to. End of story. That’s what we’ve got to do. But hopefully, we can get some belief and confidence from the actual result.
“It's a big game [on Saturday]. It’s a huge game. I’ve just challenged the lads in there now, everything we do from this moment, all the recovery, is aimed at winning a game of football on the weekend. We all know it’s a big game.”
On January transfer window plans
“I hope there’ll be a few things that will happen, but that’s the least of what I’m thinking about at the moment, but it’s right upon us now. There will be things going on, but right now, my focus has got to be on West Ham.”
