Arokodare | 'Something we can take into the next game'

Tolu Arokodare insists Wolves must start Tuesday’s game at Old Trafford in the same matter in which they approached the second half at Anfield on Saturday.

The Old Gold conceded twice late in the first half at Liverpool, but rather than buckling, rallied after the interval and arguably deserved something for their efforts after Santiago Bueno followed up on Arokodare’s saved header to keep the game alive.

The turnaround is quick, however, with another game around the corner in Manchester in midweek, and Arokodare, who was handed a rare start, believes if Wolves repeat their second half performance, they’ll give themselves another good chance of a result.

On deserving something from the game

“It’s a defeat but the second half was much better than the first. We scored, we had chances, we had more of the ball, and they’re positives that we have to take into the next game and try to play like that again.

“I’m devastated obviously, but also there’s a little bit of pride. We came here and it’s not easy to play at Anfield against Liverpool, but we can be very proud of our second half and that’s something we can take into the next game.”

On the manager’s half-time message

“First, he said we had to get our heads in the game. We conceded two goals quickly but we had the quality to keep the ball more, and that’s what we did better second half.”

On scoring from a set piece

“We work on everything including set pieces and second balls. It was a good cross by Andre, and I probably should have put it to the side, but it doesn’t matter who scored, so I’m OK with it.”

On something to build on

“We’re going to have to work on our goal scoring, obviously. We need to score more goals and that’s my department. We need to work on creating chances and scoring goals and hopefully stop conceding too.

“It’s not easy for us to play at Anfield, and then Old Trafford – Liverpool and Manchester United are two top teams, but it doesn’t matter, we’re going to go into like we finished this game and try to take the same spirit into the next game.”
