Rodrigo Gomes felt Wolves showed the spirit they have within the squad to put on a late show at Molineux to secure a Carabao Cup third round spot at the expense of West Ham United.
The Portuguese forward had given his side a first half lead when he scored off the rebound from Hee Chan Hwang’s penalty, but after the visitors turned the game around after the break, Wolves were indebted to Jorgen Strand Larsen, who came off the bench to score twice in the final 10 minutes to put the team’s name in the hat for the next round.
On progressing in the cup
“It was a very good game. It was my first goal of the season and I’m very happy, and very happy to help the team. It was a very good game, we are winning one-nil, and then a comeback for West Ham, and then we did a comeback too.
“That shows that we are a very good team, that we have the spirit to compete to the final minutes, and I think we proved that today, that we are making good progress. It’s the first win of the year, but I think much more is coming.”
On scoring Wolves’ first goal of the season
“It was a little bit lucky, but I always try to be focused on those moments, because you can score the goal.
“I was focused, and Channy didn’t score, but I was focused, and I was a little lucky, but it was a goal, so I’m very happy, and now I’ve got to keep going.”
On getting off the mark
“It’s good. Hopefully I can score more than these three goals and more than the last season, but I’m going to work hard to do that.
“I’m very happy to score and I’m very happy to be here, to be part of this team, and we’ve got to keep going, keep working, and work to achieve more wins.”

On the spirit within the squad
“We are a very good team and the spirit, the commitment that we have, we fight every game until the last minute, and it shows that we are very good team.
“We’re very compact and it’s a very good thing to have, because in the Premier League, the games are very tough, and we need to fight until the last minute. We need to do that and have that spirit if we want to achieve the wins.”
On winning with eight changes
“We have a very good team, that is full of talent, full of quality, and that's why we did a very good game. We did the changes that we made, but the players that came in after, they helped us to achieve the comeback.
“We have a very good team, very good talents, and it’s good to be part of this team, so I need to enjoy it and keep working hard too.”
