Jackson Tchatchoua believes Wolves displayed a positive mentality to keep fighting with 10-men despite their Premier League defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
The right-wing-back came off the bench to make his Old Gold debut just after the half hour mark at the Vitality Stadium in place of the injured Ki-Jana Hoever when his team were already one goal behind, and although his side wasn’t able to turn the game around, Tchatchoua felt his teammates did everything they could to try and claim a point on their travels.
On making his Wolves debut
“I’m very happy for my debut game, but the result is not good because we lost, but I think the team showed good spirit in this match.
“The team put a very good mentality on the pitch. We wanted to take some points from this match, but sometimes it’s like this. But the most important thing is the team pushed to try to take a point and showed a very good mentality on the pitch.”
On putting on the old gold shirt
“I’m happy to play for this club, the fans are very nice, and when I came onto the pitch, the intensity is very high, and minute after minute, I took to the rhythm and after I felt good.
“It’s very nice, the team is very nice, also, the staff, everybody in the club, is very nice. The training camp also, and I think I’m in a good position to play good football.
“Everybody has been very nice and I’m very happy to play in this club.”
On moving to the Premier League
“It’s a very good move, but I think I also have the physical quality for playing in this championship. Playing in the Premier League is my dream, and I’m sure I can do something good in this championship.
“I was very happy, because this is my dream championship, so I was very happy and excited to come.”
On what Pereira wants him to add to the team
“He knows I’m a player with speed, with power, and I think he wants me to attack the space, and I tried to do this in the match.
“I think I can bring creativity from deep, playing from deeper, because I think I have good speed and I think my speed can help the team to create problems behind the defence.”
On adapting to English football
“Every season teams have new players, and you need to adapt with the new teammates. It’s like this. I think the team’s been very nice, and match after match I think the team can take the points because the spirit of the team is very nice and just keep going on this way.
“It’s not easy, but sometimes football is like this, and you know you need to adapt to the situation.
“But that’s why I’m professional and today I can try to help the team with my speed, with my power, and I think the team did a good second half of the match and showed the spirit of the team.”
