Nelson Semedo is urging Wolves to push on next season after he was able to lead the team to a record-breaking period during the second half of the campaign.
The Portuguese defender played a key role in the turnaround under Vitor Pereira, having taken on the captain’s responsibilities midway through December, to help renew a connectivity between the playing squad and the supporters – of which he is incredibly proud.
On a rollercoaster 2024/25 season
“It was a tough season for us. We finished really well and we wanted to finish with a win today, unfortunately it was not possible, but everyone should be proud of the work that we did during the season.
“We didn’t start well, but with the arrival of Vitor and his staff, and with the fans as well who were always important to us, we found a way to continue our path, to get the wins that we needed, to get the results that we wanted.
“In the end we achieved the principle objective which was the permanence in the Premier League, but I hope next season we start better and we do better.”
On being able to turn their season around
“This squad has a lot of quality and we showed it, but I think we just needed a change. Maybe we just needed a couple of pieces, more to get to the next level, because that’s what I want from the club.
“I always want to go more and more, and I think this club deserves more, our squad deserves more, so I think next season we just have to push for that.”
On captaining the team during a record-breaking period
“For me, it’s an honour to represent this club. It’s an honour to lead this club as a captain, it’s a dream come true for me and I just have to thank everybody that believed in me.
“Jeff [Shi], Vitor and his staff as well, and the fans and my teammates – all of them made the job easier, so I just have to thank them and be proud that I was able to be captain of this team.”

On the bond created with the Wolves supporters
“They mean a lot because they’ve supported me a lot since I came. I remember when I came, I struggled a lot in my first season, and even despite that, they kept supporting me and pushing me for more.
“I love them and let’s see what the future brings us, but I wish all the best for them.”
