Marshall Munetsi was delighted to have scored the final Wolves goal of the 2024/25 season to earn his side a well-deserved point in their Premier League curtain closer against Brentford in stunning fashion.
The Zimbabwean international hammered a thunderbolt effort from 20 yards out into the top corner of the net with 15 minutes of the contest remaining at Molineux, after a goal kick from Emmanuel Agbadou was headed into Munetsi’s path by Jorgen Strand Larsen.
And Munetsi felt the finish was a special moment as he helped Wolves end a winless final day run in the Premier League which stretches back to 2010.
On his final day equaliser
“It was a special one. It was one of them, I always practice most of them, even when I was young and, in fact, I scored a couple.
“But it’s always something that we try to do and if he [Strand Larsen] gets high for the ball, and I have to go for the second one, and I think it was better with all the previous chances I’ve always had but today felt more special.”
On route one football
“The manager always gives us that option. If Larsen is there, why not? If they go one against one, we try to play to him, and then we get a second ball, because we also have fast wingers on the side, and obviously today, we managed to score a good goal like that.”
On playing under Pereira
“He has created a family environment and he has given the players confidence. Confidence is something that you can never really take for granted, and it gives you the opportunity to win games.
“Obviously, in the first half of this season was much more difficult, but also tactically we’ve been much more solid, and also defensively, we have improved a lot.
“We managed to concede less goals than what we used to do before, and we’ve also been more clinical in front of goal. That's also something that he has really implemented in the team, to have a family environment, but also have a fighting spirit.”
You've been with us every step of the way throughout 2024/25. The highs, the lows and everything in between.

On Joao Gomes’ performance
“He's the leader of the team when he's playing like this. I think it's difficult for us to lose and he makes the supporters fall in love with him.
“He always reminds you of the ‘Joga Bonito’ from Brazil, so I think he's someone that is really special. We also enjoy watching him when we’re playing with him on the pitch.”
On Tom King’s debut off the bench
“Even on the training pitch, Kingy is always one of the first guys to arrive there. He's always positive, he's always giving guys encouragement, even when he talks before the game, during and after, he’s somebody that is really important.
“Obviously, people don't really see it on the outside, but I think he deserves to get the game time and I think the manager also trusts him a lot, so I think that's why he put him in.”
