Jose Sa believes the positive environment around Wolves’ goalkeeper group and the hard work on the training ground has helped the Portuguese play a key role in the club's Premier League campaign.
The stopper has produced some excellent performances in the early stages of the 2023/24 campaign to earn his team crucial points, and now working under goalkeeper coach Neil Cutler – who replaced Tony Roberts in the summer – Sa feels all of the keepers in the first-team squad are doing everything they can to improve each other.
On the morale in the goalkeeper union
“It’s been very good. We enjoy the training sessions a lot, we work but we have fun too at the same time, and this is important for the environment of the goalkeepers.
“Neil [Cutler] talks with us a lot and I speak to Tom [King] and Bents and we are enjoying what we are doing, and we are happy.”
On his performances this season
“I think that if I concede goals, it’s because I have to do something better and I have to work, to learn and continue fighting because I want to help the team.
“But this is what I’m doing. I’m working to help the team.”
On the change of keeper coach this summer
“I loved working with Tony [Roberts] and I love working with Neil. Both are very good but they work in different ways.
“Every coach has a different type of work and we have to keep the good things from all of them and grow up from that, which is what I’m doing.”

On what he’s working on
“I have everything to improve because it’s my mentality. I always have something to learn and that is what I’m doing. I work every day to grow up and be better.”
On training with the academy keepers
“There are some very good goalkeepers at the club, and it’s good for them to be working regularly with us.
“I talk about myself and when I was young, when they called me from the first-team, it was a proud moment for me to play with the older players.
“It’s a time that they have to enjoy, but they have to work to grow up too and be better.”
