Following the end of the latest cycle of Premier League fixtures on Sunday, 12 members of Gary O’Neil’s first-team squad have departed for international duty.
Sasa Kalajdzic links up with Austria for the first time in more than a year, having missed much of the past 12 months through injury, and he’ll hope to add to his 15 international caps against either Belgium or Azerbaijan.
In-form attackers Hee Chan Hwang and Pedro Neto link up with South Korea and Portugal respectively, with Neto also joined by Old Gold teammates Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo and Toti in the senior international squad.
Portugal face Euro 2024 qualifiers against Slovakia and Bosnia ahead of them, while South Korea’s fixtures come in the form of friendlies with Tunisia and Vietnam.
Also in Euro 2024 qualifying action are the Republic of Ireland, who take on Greece and Gibraltar, and they’ve included Matt Doherty in their squad again, while Boubacar Traore is in the Mali squad for friendlies with Uganda and Saudi Arabia.
Concacaf qualification for the upcoming World Cup is on the agenda for Brazil and Uruguay this month and Matheus Cunha and Santiago Bueno have been called up by their respective countries.
Finally, Fabio Silva and Joe Hodge have been named in the Portugal and Republic of Ireland under-21 squads, with Ireland facing Latvia in a friendly and Euro qualifiers with Belarus and Greece.
