The captain put the finishing touches to an outstanding performance from the men in gold and black, which had seen Wolves take a two-goal lead into the break after Joel Matip put the ball in his own net before Craig Dawson netted 11 minutes into his debut, and Neves was full of admiration for the defender and the noise created by the supporters.
On three points at home
“Today we did it. It was a fantastic game for us. We started really well with two early goals, which were really good for us and then in the second half, Liverpool came for us as we knew they would.
“We needed to suffer a little bit, we needed to stick together and we did really well. At the back, Sa and the defenders, and everyone in front of the ball, so we didn’t concede a goal.
“Then we knew we would have some chances on the counter-attack, so it was a massive three points for us.”

On getting Molineux rocking
“The atmosphere was massive. We’ve been speaking about that the last few games, because when Molineux is on fire like it was today, it’s very hard for the opponents to play here. The atmosphere was amazing and I’m really happy for our fans because they helped us a lot.
“We always say they are an extra player to us when we play at home, and in the games when they are with the team it’s really massive for us.
“Congratulations to them and I hope they had a good day because they helped us to give our 110 per cent this evening.”
On adding another goal to his collection
“Fortunately, it’s one more goal – inside of the box as well! But the most important thing was the three points.
“We’re always saying the same thing, we go game by game, but we knew today was going to be a really hard match for us, so these three points are massive and really special for us. We just want to build on this game.”
Three goals. Three points.

On Dawson netting on his Wolves debut
“The bash on his head when he was celebrating, that shows his character. He’s a fantastic player and as soon as he arrived, we felt that he was going to be a big player for us.
“But I think we have a fantastic squad and the club did really well during this transfer window to get some players in to help us and I think we needed this competitivity within the squad and currently everyone is working really hard and that’s what we want to show on the pitch as well.”
On working with Lopetegui
“I’ve always said that I really love to work with him because he gave me my debut when I was 17, so it was someone who is really special for me in terms of my career in football, but my goal is always to help the team as much as I can, and I did that under other coaches as well.
“But of course, it’s realty good to work with him again, although My way to work is always the same, I always try to help the team and help the club as much as I can.”
