The squad have spent the last 10 days out in southern Spain during the mid-season break for the World Cup, and head into a Carabao Cup last 16 clash with Gillingham at Molineux on Tuesday in high spirits having overcome La Liga outfit Cadiz CF in their final training match. But as the side head back to Wolverhampton, Moutinho admits the players still have plenty of improvements left in them.
On signing off from Spain with a win
“It’s a good training match. We are preparing what is coming – the start of the second-half of the season.
“I think we’re doing well, we’re training well here in Marbella and we did a good two games, and now it’s a return, rest a little bit and start again.”
On getting minutes in the legs
“We know that if we train hard, it’s very good, but for me, it’s the match that will give you what you need for what is coming, for the games in the Premier League, and that is what the gaffer has done.
“He’s tried to give minutes for our legs, and we did a good job, we play well, we score, we create opportunities, we defend well, and of course, we need to improve a lot, but we are on our way.”

On 10 days is Marbella
“It’s good for the group, for the staff to know each other and to start again because we are not in a good situation, we know that, but we need to train hard, to play hard and to improve our position in the Premier League.
“We have all the quality and the work that we can do to improve it.”
On preparing for Gillingham
“The most important is the next game. The next game is the cup and we’ll try to do our best to go to the next phase and after then we will think about that game, but the next one is the most important.
“They are a club who already win against a Premier League team, so we need to be careful, do our job, serious, focus, and try to win to pass [to the quarter-finals].”
