The defender believes the run of disappointing results will not ‘last forever’ and that the team are staying focused on improving collectively and individually as they look to learn from their experiences of this season.
On improving as a squad
“It’s been difficult, but it’s also a learning curve. Things like this will never last forever and we will get out of this situation. It will get better and we need to stay focused.
“After, we can learn from what we’ve experienced and know how not to be in this situation again. It’s only early in the season. We’ve had some good performances this season and we’ve played really well, even when results have not come our way.
“There’s no need for us to not look forward, because there’s a long way to go. We’ve got a lot of confidence in the team to turn it around and we will get better.
“It comes down to everyone’s little aspects individually. It could be confidence, it could be something they need to work on, but I think we’ve been playing well. Of course, there are moments where defensively we’ve made a couple of mistakes, but it’s normal. We need to forget about what happened in the last game and focus on the next one.”
Kicking on towards the weekend.

On bouncing back from Leicester defeat
“It was difficult because it was a very strange game. I don’t think the scoreline reflected the game, but that happens in football.
“You look at the stats after the game and they were way more clinical than us. We did create quite a lot of chances, but that’s football and sometimes things don’t go your way.
“But we can’t really dwell on the past, we’ve got to look forward, get back to training and focus on the next game, and that’s what we’ve done. We’re more than ready for the weekend.”
On the threat Brentford pose
“They did really well last season. They came into the Premier League and they looked a good side and I’m sure they’ll do the same this season.
“They’ve got a lot of threat, obviously players like Ivan Toney. He’s very physical, very good in the air and really good on the ball, so he’s got the all-round game and he’s a top player. They’ve got a lot of good players in their team, but every team and every player in the Premier League is very good, so we have to be ready to match that, to go to the game and do our best.
“We need to stay focused because of how difficult the Premier League is and you need to find results from somewhere.
“It’s going to be difficult to come to Brentford, but we did it last season, and we can do it again. We just need to be prepared and stay as confident as possible.”

On replicating training in the game
“Training’s been really good. They’ve kept us focused and training’s been intense. That’s what we need to carry on doing, just being intense, show that intensity in games and really progress from there.
“We’re confident. Obviously, results have not been great recently, but we’ve stuck together really well and training’s been good. Things will pick up eventually, but we just need to make sure we stay motivated, keep working hard and the results will come.
“We know teams go through rough patches in the season, and that’s normal, but we’re more than ready for the weekend. We want to go there and get a good result.”
