Exciting Portuguese duo join Wolves

Wolves have secured the double signing of Portuguese youth international pair Pedro Neto and Bruno Jordao on long-term deals.

The promising duo, who were together at Braga before spending the last two years on loan at Lazio in Serie A, have put pen to paper on five-year contracts which see them develop while at Molineux until the summer of 2024.

Neto, a 19-year-old left-footed wide player, joined Braga’s youth system at the age of 13, before his ascent to the club’s senior side.

At just 17, the Portugal under-20 prospect scored his first professional goal minutes into his Primeira Liga debut to become Braga’s youngest ever scorer in the competition.

20-year-old midfielder Jordao first came to prominence while at Portuguese outfit Uniao de Leiria, where – after six years in their youth sides – he spent a season in the first-team when he was 16, scoring four goals in 23 appearances.

The Portugal under-21 international then joined Braga where he played several times for the club’s reserve side before he joined Neto on loan at Lazio where the pair continued their development.

Kevin Thelwell, Wolves’ sporting director, believes the club has signed two fantastic players. “They’re two very talented individuals in positions we’re keen to add to,” he said. “But with both Pedro and Bruno it’s more about their potential for the future.

“We see signing young talent as a way forward; for example, Morgan Gibbs-White from the Academy, several other young players from the Academy who have been in the first-team recently, and Ruben Vinagre, who we signed at a very young age.

“We think these two guys are right up there at that level and have both got high potential to be successful here at Wolves. However, we expect it will take time for them to break into the first-team as they’re so young and they’re playing in a new country and a new environment, but we will try to integrate them into the first-team group as much as possible.

“We don’t want to put too much pressure on them in the early stages of their time here, but in due course we hope we will see good examples of their true potential and quality at first-team level.”
