Saiss | 'We have to improve and try to win this kind of game'

Romain Saiss admits there are plenty of areas for Wolves to improve on as the side could only take a point on the road at Norwich City.

Having put in their performance of the campaign at home to West Ham United last weekend, Wolves were able to keep another clean sheet, but rarely threatened at the other end of the pitch, and Saiss knows it is the responsibility of the whole team to be more of a threat in attacking positions.

On defeat at Carrow Road

“I think we tried to play in the game in the same way that we trained throughout the week. We tried to find the space between the lines and I think we did it pretty well.

“But, unfortunately, we have to do a bit more, I think, in the last 30 metres, because we didn’t create a lot of chances, a lot of shots, and we didn’t score, so that’s why we are a bit disappointed after the game.

“But with the way we wanted to play, we did what we wanted to do.”

On finding it tough against Norwich

“It was tough because they have good players. I think even though they are near the bottom of the league, they are a team who wants to play and it’s always tough to play here.

“We tried to stop all the attacks, and I think we were compact and it was not the case. We have Jose, who made a couple of saves, but we knew that before the game, that a player like Pukki is a smart player.

“But we kept another clean sheet, which is not only good for us as defenders, but for all the team. But we have to improve and try to win this kind of game.”

On areas to improve

“In the last two games away from home, I think we can improve a lot. We have to find the solutions. We know they [Norwich] were in a really good moment for two or three games, since they started winning.

“But we have to find the right space in front, try different things, maybe try to be more selfish, the players in front, they need to shoot, but Norwich defended well as well in what was a good way down today.

“It was a tough game, but we’re going to keep this point and this clean sheet and try to win the next game which is coming on Wednesday.”

On being part of a small squad

“We know we have a small squad, so that’s why everyone has to be ready and be involved. We saw it today with Podence who was unfortunately not here.

“Everyone has to be ready because it’s going to be tough in December, and even after that we’re going to lose two players for the African Cup.

“That’s why I think everyone is ready and working hard in the training, and we’re trusting in all the players. It doesn’t matter who is playing, we know the guy is going to do his all.”
