Internationals | Wolves men called up for November fixtures

With the November internationals on the horizon, 13 members of Bruno Lage’s current squad have been called up to represent their countries.

Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho are back in Portugal action, and they have work to do to qualify automatically for the World Cup as group winners.

Portugal trail Serbia by a point but have a game in hand against Republic of Ireland next Thursday, before a winner takes all clash at home to Serbia the following Sunday.

Their captain Conor Coady is also in international action, having been named in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad on Thursday afternoon.

Fixtures against Albania at home and San Marino await either side of the weekend, with England three points ahead of their nearest rivals Poland with two games left each.

Leander Dendoncker is once again included in the Belgium squad, who are all but qualified for Qatar, sitting five points ahead of second with a game in hand.

This November the Red Devils face Estonia on Saturday at home and then travel to Wales the following Tuesday, where their campaign concludes.

In the African qualification, Romain Saiss and Morocco have already secured top spot in their group, and therefore a place in the African play-offs next March.

Morocco are eight points ahead of second-placed Guinea-Bissau with two games remaining, but still face a trip to Sudan and home tie against Guinea to conclude the group.

Things are looking good for the Ivory Coast too, taking 10 points from their first 12 available, and Willy Boly is once again included in their squad for the November internationals.

On Saturday Les Elephants face Mozambique, before a crucial clash the following Tuesday with Cameroon, who sit a point behind in the group.

Mexico and Raul Jimenez also look Qatar-bound, winning four and drawing two of their six qualifying matches to date, and they’re back in action this month.

Matches with the USA and Canada await on Saturday and Wednesday, and Jimenez will hope to add to his tally in both fixtures.

Hee Chan Hwang is also in action for South Korea, who have made a solid start to their group, taking eight points and sitting in second place, with the top two slots automatically qualifying for Qatar.

November fixtures against United Arab Emirates and Iraq present an opportunity to improve that position further, with the group stage concluding next March.

Having impressed on loan at Sheffield United, Morgan Gibbs-White has been recalled to the England Under-21 squad by Lee Carsley, whose side host Czech Republic at Turf Moor in a European Under-21 Championship qualifier, before travelling to Georgia for a friendly.

Like Gibbs-White, Fabio Silva is also in European Under-21 Championship qualifying action, as Portugal face Cyprus home and away in the space of five days.

Ki-Jana Hoever will also be in action, qualifying for the same competition as Gibbs-White and Silva, with the Netherlands under-21s, who face Bulgaria and Gibraltar in the coming week.

Under-23s Louie Moulden has also earned a first call up to the Three Lions camp, linking up with the under-20s, who play Portugal on Thursday.
