Jimenez | "It’s amazing to score a goal in my 100th game"

Raul Jimenez scored three minutes into his 100th game for Wolves, setting his side on their way to an opening day victory, and was delighted to play his part.

The Mexican’s brilliantly controlled finish, following good work by Joao Moutinho and Daniel Podence in the build-up, got the wheels in motion for victory over Sheffield United on Monday evening. 45 goals for the club in 100 games is an incredible record, and Jimenez is focused on treating each game like it's his first from here on out.

On scoring on his 100th game

“I didn’t know, but it’s amazing to score a goal in my 100th game. I'm going to keep going like this, like it’s my first game here, and try to keep scoring.

“The ball bounced back, so I had to regulate, so I had to open the foot and fortunately it went to the net.”

On a big win to begin

“It’s good to start the season like this – winning, playing as we know, since the start of two seasons ago. We have to keep going like this. We have to keep focused, because on Thursday we have another match.”

On the quick start

“We wanted to since the beginning. We’ve had two weeks working, some of my teammates came four days ago, it was difficult to adapt for us, but we showed tonight that since the beginning we are going and dreaming big.”

On his miss after the break

“I had a chance. I had the feeling that the ball would come again to me, but I kicked it with my ankle, I have to keep working on that, but happy for the win of today and we’re looking forward.”

On the season ahead

“Very excited. We are a small squad, we have injured players, and players coming in the next weeks. We still have time, but we are going together.”
