Nuno's January transfer plans

With the January transfer window now open, Nuno Espirito Santo was questioned by the media on his recruitment plans for the coming month on Wednesday evening, after the defeat to Crystal Palace..

Naturally, the head coach kept his cards close to his chest, but did touch on the club’s strategy and stressed that the core of the squad would stay and be built on if the right opportunity arises.

On transfer activity

“I can comment on how we work. The transfer window is happening now and we anticipated it before.

“We have a squad and now we have to look at it. We have to analyse what we have in front of us and who can deliver these things.

“Now we have the chance with the transfer window, and anything can happen.”

On keeping key men

"This squad will stay with us. The core is there and we have to know if we need something. It's step by step, as we go.

“I'm going to work on what I need. I already work on the people who I need. Let's find who I need.”

On outgoings

“Every time a player has a chance to go, it’s because of something like ‘he needs to play’. If we have an asset that needs to play. If we have a chance, we’ll take it.”
