All Around The World | Yerson Mosquera

With the World Cup well underway this summer, Yerson Mosquera discusses discusses the greatest football show on earth before taking readers on his favourite travels around the globe.

First memories

I remember the moment when Colombia got to the quarter-final against Brazil. The game against Uruguay was amazing, when James [Rodriguez] scored. Also, when we played against England and Yerry Mina scored in the last minute – a lot of memories. In 2010, the Spain final was amazing as well.

Favourite goal

I have a good memory for the [Robin] van Persie goal against Spain – the header was an amazing goal. Also, Iniesta against the Netherlands was an amazing goal.

Watching World Cups

I watch with friends and family, but usually in other homes to see the match. When I was younger, my dad and mum were strict, so I couldn’t stay out after 8pm. I had good rules in the house, which is really important.

Playing at one

It would be amazing.

First holiday abroad

I think it was Japan with the national team. We played there and it was amazing – I want to go again, and also Korea. It’s the furthest I’ve travelled – I think it was 22 hours, five to Mexico and then 17 to Japan, then we drove two hours to the hotel.

Last country visited

I went to Uruguay for Santi’s [Bueno] wedding last summer, it was amazing and I loved it. I was with Sasa [Kalajdzic] and Enso [Gonzalez] to support him outside of football – it’s important to have good relationships.

Favourite trip

I’ve been to Norway, and it was amazing. I had the opportunity to see the Northern Lights and they were beautiful. I went with Enso [Gonzalez] and we were lucky to see the natural lights.

Bucket list

I’ve not visited Korea, but I want to go. I spoke a lot with Channy [Hwang] and I need to go.
