This weekend attention turns back to the Premier League, where Wolves are hoping to use their momentum from Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup win when they host Everton at Molineux.
1 | Roll Call
Vitor Pereira said Jorgen Strand Larsen is “dealing with a small injury” in Friday’s press conference. The striker has been monitoring a knock picked up against Manchester City and will be assessed pre-match. Ki-Jana Hoever was withdrawn due to a knee injury against AFC Bournemouth last Saturday and missed the midweek Carabao Cup game, but the problem isn’t deemed serious. New signing Ladislav Krejci could make his debut, while Jackson Tchatchou will hope he did enough on Tuesday – assisting the winning goal – to have earned a first start for Wolves. Toti returns from a one-match suspension, following his red card last weekend.
For Everton, full back Vitalii Mykolenko returned from injury against Mansfield Town in the week and is available for Saturday. Youngster Adam Aznou has a minor knee problem and is being monitored in training, but Jarrad Branthwaite will definitely be absent until after the international break.

3 | Journey to Saturday
Wolves got themselves up and running for victories in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening, and Pereira will hope that fell-good factor carries into the Premier League this weekend. Strand Larsen’s late double turned the cup tie around against West Ham United, as the Norwegian followed Rodrigo Gomes in scoring the club’s first goals of the season. Previously in the league, Wolves were narrowly beaten at AFC Bournemouth last weekend, following an opening day reverse to Manchester City at Molineux.
Everton have spent the past week settling into life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with two victories. On Wednesday evening David Moyes’ side beat League One Mansfield Town at their new home, three days after getting off the mark in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. The Toffees had started the season with a defeat on the road at Leeds United, so will hope their positive form isn’t confined to Merseyside.
4 | Back in the big time
The last time Everton visited Molineux in the month of August was for the opening day of the 2018/19 season, which marked the Old Gold’s return to the top flight after six years away.
Richarlison was new to Everton and he opened the scoring on 17 minutes to quieten Molineux ever so slightly, but Phil Jagielka’s red card for a dangerous challenge on Diogo Jota saw the Toffees reduced to ten men and Ruben Neves fired the resulting free-kick into the top corner.
Back came Everton, and specifically Richarlison, however, and the Brazilian restored Everton’s lead, only for Raul Jimenez to head home on his Wolves debut to earn the hosts a deserved point. Only Matt Doherty of the Old Gold players involved that day could feature on Saturday.
