Dissecting some of most important Wolves goals under the ownership of Fosun which, although they’re not known as Goal of the Season contenders, were hugely significant in the club’s recent history.
Man United 0-1 Wolves | 3rd January 2022
Following the turn of 2022, Joao Moutinho struck eight minutes from time to earn Wolves their first win at Old Trafford in more than 40 years.
Wolves deserved their victory over Manchester United and Moutinho fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box for Bruno Lage’s side.
The win set the Portuguese on his way to the Manager of the Month award, as the first of three wins.
“Phil Jones cleared the ball and tried to see where the ball would go, and when I did the first touch, I said I need to shoot, and I scored. The way to make a beautiful goal, it’s to go to the net, and that’s what happened today, and I helped the team win. I have a baby for three months, my two daughters and wife, it’s for them, I waited a little bit more, three months, so I did the celebration for them because I play football because I love it, but for them too.” Joao Moutinho
"We won here. It was a good game for us. From the first minute we had that feeling. We came here to win the game. The first half was very good from our side. I think it’s clear, a big performance from our side. A fantastic game from our boys. e come here with a big personality. Credit for my team. We come here with a big ambition.” Bruno Lage
The lasting impression
Wolves enjoyed a thrilling January, winning all three matches – the club’s best form under Bruno Lage. The Old Gold went on to finish tenth that campaign, seven points behind Man United who ended up in sixth.
Wolves were strong on their travels during the 2021/22 campaign and this Old Trafford success was one of eight away wins that year.
