Matchday Guide | Liverpool vs Wolves

Thousands of Wolves supporters will be making a post-Christmas visit to Liverpool on Saturday for the Old Gold's 2025 festive Premier League fixture.

A sold-out allocation of just under 3,000 supporters will be heading to Anfield for Wolves' festive fixture at 3pm on Saturday 27th December.

For those making the journey to Merseyside, here is everything you need to know…

Key matchday information

With this fixture being the first meeting between Wolves and Liverpool since the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, supporters wishing to pay their respects to the former Old Gold forward and his brother Andre Silva are welcome to do so by visiting Liverpool's memorial site on 97 Avenue, which is located close to the Main Stand at Anfield.

Tragedy chanting and abuse

Ahead of Saturday’s game, Wolves are reminding supporters about legislation on tragedy chanting and abuse. Tough measures are in force to challenge the unacceptable presence of football tragedy abuse in the game.

This is focused on offensive chanting, gesturing and displaying offensive messages based on football-related tragedies, which causes significant distress to victims' families, survivors and affected-club supporters.

Examples of football-related tragedies that have led to such abuse include the 1989 Hillsborough disaster which led to the death of 97 Liverpool fans and a 30-year campaign led by their families to discover how and why they died, the Munich air disaster of 1958 involving the Manchester United squad, the Heysel Stadium disaster, the Bradford stadium fire and the murder of two Leeds United fans in Istanbul.

Football authorities, supporter groups and law enforcement organisations, including the police and CPS, have united to crack down on fans who participate in tragedy abuse and people who are found guilty of offences face stadium bans and criminal prosecution, including increased financial penalties for serious and repeat offenders.

Furthermore, engaging in discriminatory and offensive chanting or other verbal or non-verbal actions or gestures concerning football or other tragedies (whether done at a match, in-person or remotely – via any electronic communication, social media or otherwise) is in contravention of Wolves’ Acceptable Behaviour Policy.

Any individual found to have engaged in tragedy abuse will be subject to a ban from the ground and a breach may also subject the individual to a Football Banning Order, which would see them barred from any games in the UK.

If you witness any anti-social, discriminatory or abusive behaviour including tragedy chanting or gesturing at Anfield, we encourage you to report this to your nearest stewards or the police, a dedicated security team can also be informed in confidence via text on 64446 starting your message with ‘LFC’ providing details of the incident and the location in the stadium, and Liverpool Football Club will investigate all complaints.

Additionally, any instances of online abuse and online discrimination can be reported to fanservices@wolves.co.uk or by using the Kick it Out app.

Poverty chanting

Wolves also wish to remind supporters that chanting or gestures relating to poverty or food insecurity are offensive and have no place in football. Such behaviour is particularly inappropriate at this time of year, when many families are facing real challenges, and supporters are encouraged to show respect and compassion at all times.

Liverpool has highlighted its stance on poverty chanting and any individuals found to be responsible for such behaviour will be ejected from Anfield. Fans who wish to do so can text FOODBANKFC to 70460 to donate £5, plus their standard network message rate. Hunger does not wear club colours.
