Wolves Express | Real Madrid special

A Real Madrid special episode of Wolves Express is now live, as the Old Gold under-21s prepare to host the most successful club in Europe.

James Collins’ side welcome Madrid to Molineux in the Premier League International Cup on Wednesday evening, and both Peter Crump and Claire Hakeman have been speaking about the occasion on Wolves Express.

For club historian Crump, it’s a look into the archives, particularly at a 1957 floodlit friendly between Wolves and Real Madrid, which also took place at Molineux and the Old Gold won 3-2, before drawing 2-2 at the Bernabeu.

Crump discusses the significance of that fixture, which is held as high as Honved by some supporters, as well as the memorabilia from that night in October 1957 which is available for supporters to see in the Wolves Museum.

Hakeman, who works within the academy, then brings the episode up to date, discussing the logistics behind hosting the European powerhouse at Molineux.

The former Wolves Women defender touches on the significance of playing at Molineux for the Old Gold youngsters and how dealing with Madrid in the build up has taken the occasion to another level.

Season ticket holders and under-17s can enter Molineux for free on the night, provided the ticket is claimed in advance, while regular adult tickets are priced at £5. Tickets are available to purchase online by clicking here, while the Molineux ticket office will be open and selling tickets until 7pm before the game.
