Academy graduate and play-off final hero Matt Murray is set to be inducted into the Old Gold Club during a very special Christmas Day episode.
The former Wolves goalkeeper, who spent his entire career at the club he joined as a nine-year-old, is the latest former star to be in the hot seat as he joins Mikey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo on a bumper festive edition of the popular new podcast.
As part of the biggest episode the gang have recorded so far, including relocating the studio to the headquarters of podcast sponsors Wolverhampton Building Supplies, the trio will be getting in the Christmas spirit by wearing festive jumpers and talking about life as a footballer during the busiest time of the season.
The Old Gold Club Christmas Special will air during a half hour Facebook and YouTube video on 25th December, before the bumper extended podcast is released on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Although one of Wolves’ greatest unfulfilled talents, Murray’s influence at Molineux will last long in the memory of all fans. After making his way through the club’s youth system, the keeper played a starring role in helping Wolves secure promotion to the Premier League in 2003.
His penalty save in the Division One play-off final will go down in Molineux folk law, but injuries restricted the giant stopper to just 100 Wolves appearances – after once being tipped for England stardom.
Following his retirement at the young age of just 29, Murray has reinvented himself as a television pundit, mainly working for Sky Sports.
The first ten episodes of the podcast with Carl Ikeme, Kenny Hibbitt, Tony Daley, Terry Connor, Scott Golbourne, Karl Henry, David Kelly, Ally Robertson, Jack Price and Matt Jarvis are also available to listen back to by clicking here.
