THE FANS : A group of Year Eight students from Deansfield Community School.
THE WISHER: Teacher and Head of Year Eight Miss Amy Lockley.
WHY: Miss Lockley has been working with the group of pupils looking at forming positive relationships and building their confidence.
THE WISH: Leon Clarke, a former Deansfield pupil himself, Carl Ikeme and Ethan Ebanks-Landell surprised the pupils with a visit to the school. Wolves Community Trust led a Q&A session in which the Wolves players passed on their experiences both growing up at school and in football. They gave the pupils some Wolves goodies, match tickets and the promise of a trip to the Compton Park training ground in the New Year.
MISS LOCKLEY SAYS: “As the boys’ year leader I have been working with them on confidence, communication and friendship issues. And I thought that getting to meet some really positive role models would be a confidence boost for them. We spent some time planning the questions for the players and it has been a really great afternoon. The messages from the players were really positive and will have given the boys something to think about. And I know they are really excited about visiting the training ground.”
THE BOYS SAY: “We’ve just seen three Wolves players and got some goodie bags and signatures. We’ve been invited to a match and training as well! We asked the players’ questions and their answers will inspire us. It gives us a good boost of confidence and we know we have to try really hard to get grades at school to try and get our dream job. It was good fun!”
