Queens Park Rangers are the visitors to the Golden Palace as the two sides go head-to-head in the third round of the prestigious youth competition.

Richard Walker’s youngsters have enjoyed a strong first half of the season which has seen them accumulate 14 points from 10 games in the U18 Premier League where they currently sit in sixth place.

The Old Gold have also qualified for the quarter-finals of the U17 Premier League Cup, progressed in the Birmingham Senior Cup and come into the game on the back of a 3-0 victory over Reading in the U18 PL Cup last week.

The visitors, QPR, are managed by Micah Hyde and compete in Group B of the Professional Development League.

The R’s sit bottom in that division having picked up three wins from 11 games, but impressively defeated Millwall by six goals to nil on the weekend.

Wolves will be looking to emulate a historic run two years ago which saw Steve Davis’ side reach the semi-final of the Youth Cup for just the second time in the club’s history.

The winner of Wednesday’s tie at Molineux will host either Birmingham City or Burnley in the fourth round, with extra time and penalties in play should the two sides be level after 90 minutes.

WHAT THE BOSS SAID

“They’re a decent side. They’ve got a lot of good technical players, so they pose a threat. They’re attack-minded, the wide players will stay up the pitch and they’ll always have a threat.

“They’ve got a couple of lads who have been around their 21s and they’ve got an athletic group.

“Primarily, the focus in every game that we’ve been in this season has been about us and what we do.

“It’s about us and us executing our game plan to the best of our ability. If we do that, I think we beat most teams. If we fall short, we fall short doing it our way.”
